I have a confession to make. I am a HUGE chocoholic. It doesn't really matter what type of chocolate, I pretty much like it all. I have a particular fondness for anything mint or orange flavoured and anything with nuts in.
Now despite this love of chocolate for the month of March I am giving up chocolate completely. This is going to be particularly difficult given that it's my birthday in March, we have another big family birthday in March and it's also when Easter falls this year. However it is for such a good cause that I couldn't really say no to the challenge.
The British Heart Foundation are behind Dechox2016 and are encouraging people to give up chocolate for the whole of March to raise much needed funds for their research.
Every 3 minutes someone in the UK is struck by a heart attack and 30% of those are fatal. There can be very little,if any, warning that a heart attack is about to strike and when it does time is of the essence.
Losing someone you love to a heart attack is devastating. The sudden death leaves so many questions unasked and unanswered. So many things unsaid, so many future opportunities and adventures unfulfilled.
Giving up chocolate for a month seems a very small price to pay to help fund research that could prevent someone having to suffer the loss of a loved one in this way.
If you're not a chocoholic like me then perhaps there is something else that you are a bit addicted to, coffee, fizzy drinks, cigarettes. You could always give those up instead. Leave me a comment if you do sign up, I would love to know what you are giving up and to share some moral support throughout March.
You can sign up to do the Dechox challenge yourself by following the link above. Alternatively if you don't think there is something that you could give up for a month you could just make a donation to the British Heart Foundation, either directly or by supporting my challenge.
